Optimized Scrypt and Scrypt-N Ubuntu Pic for Litecoin, Dogecoin, and Vertcoin

I know many of you have asked mij for Vertcoin and since you do need some skill of Linux and compiling, I thought it would be lighter if you can just download my optimized USB Ubuntu picture that contains a compiled Vertcoin with optimized settings for R9 280X, doing 700Kh/s for Scrypt and 327Kh/s for Scrypt-N. (Scrypt-N gets around 40-45% of hashrate compared to Scrypt)
I’ve also included my original Litecoin cgminer, so you can lightly switch inbetween the two.
If you are not familiar with Ubuntu, I very recommend watching the movie tutorial above along with thesis instructions.
Step 1. Next, download the HighOnCoins Scrypt/Scrypt-N pic and flash to your 8GB USB drive using Win32DiskImager. (You can also use DD with Linux/Mac but that’s outside the scope of this tutorial, just Google it.)
I recommend you use a good USB Trio.0 flash drive spil their read/write speeds are much quicker (even when using USB Two.0) and also they have less failures/corruption. I specifically use Kingston Gegevens Traveler USB flash drives, thesis have worked truly well for mij te the past for months without errors. Some USB flash drives are indeed bad and they can ruin your stability so just make sure you get at least USB Three.0 flash drive.
Step Two. You can connect to the Ubuntu by connecting a monitor cable to your very first graphic card connected to the very first PCI-E 16X slot and also connecting a keyboard/mouse. OR my preferred method is to connect an ethernet cable to your router then remotely SSH (using Putty or terminal), you can check for the IP address by checking your router’s LAN status.
Open a terminal and connect to using the following credentials:
*Note – to switch password, do “passwd” guideline ter terminal.
Step Trio. Type the following to set the AMD graphic drivers to recognize your graphic cards:
Count the number of graphic cards recognized by your equipment.
For 6-card equipment you should see something like below:
Which shows Screen through Screen[Five].
If you have less or more cards, you should see the adequate number of Screen.
If everything is being recognized, you are good to go, reboot your system by typing:
Step Four. For Scrypt coins such spil Litecoin, Dogecoin, etc…, you can type “nano /huis/litecoin/cgminer/cgminer.conf” to edit the cgminer configuration files, you will be able to switch the pool informatie to yours. Save when done.
For Scrypt-N coins such spil Vertcoin, you can type “nano /huis/litecoin/vertminer/vertminer.conf” to edit your pool informatie.
Step Five. To begin the cgminer for Scrypt, simply type, “sh test.sh”. If you see “FAILED!”, it means it’s successful. (Sorry I left behind to edit that part while writing the script.) This will run cgminer te the background.
Likewise, to commence cgminer for Scrypt-N, simply type “sh testvert.sh”.
Make sure you are only running Scrypt or Scrypt-N at one time, otherwise it will run both and you will get errors obviously.
Step 6. To actually see cgminer running, type “cgm”. To get out of it, press Ctrl + a + d. If you want to abandon cgminer, type “q” instead.
Step 7. Once you get everything working good, you can enable auto-start script, which will embark cgminer automatically upon boot, power-failure, lock-up, etc…etc…
Type “nano /etc/cron.d/saupdate” and eliminate the “#” from the this line and save:

If you want to switch from Scrypt to Scrypt-N, simply comment out the Scrypt test.sh line then uncomment the Scrypt-N testvert.sh. Also make sure you either reboot or abandon the existing Cgminer process running ter the background (type “cgm” then “q”).
I’ve also included some toegevoegd code you can comment out to restart your machine at a certain time of the day or every duo hours. This is a good idea since your graphic cards may go down sometimes, I usually reboot my equipments at least once a day and if the equipment has more problems, every Three hours.
Once that’s done, cron job will automatically check every Four minute for cgminer and embark it if its not running.
